My background

As a former CRA Trust Account Examination Officer, I understand compliance from the inside. I know what CRA looks for, how audits work, and how to keep your business protected. That role included detailed examinations of taxpayer records — GST/HST, income tax, and payroll deductions — across Ontario small businesses.

As a QuickBooks instructor at the college level — and the person who rebuilt their QuickBooks curriculum — I don’t just use accounting software. I teach it professionally. Most bookkeepers learned their software in a certification course. I teach other people how to use it at a professional level.

26+ years in senior operations management. 10+ years in accounting, bookkeeping, and tax practice. Honours Diploma, Business Accounting, Durham College.

Alex also founded Trusted AI Systems, a Canadian custom AI solutions consultancy. That crossover — understanding both the financial compliance layer and the operational systems layer — is rare in bookkeeping, and it is available when a client needs both.

What TBR Does Not Do

Personal income tax return preparation is available to new and existing clients, without a bookkeeping engagement. Corporate T2 returns are available only to established bookkeeping clients or businesses with an existing relationship with TBR, never as a standalone service. Scope and fees are confirmed before work begins. We do not provide legal tax advice or formal CRA dispute representation. We do not handle complex multi-province or international HST. We serve all Canada except Quebec, including British Columbia. We do not work with businesses outside Canada. If your situation falls outside that scope, we will tell you and refer you to someone who can help.
